PEACE OR A SWORD?

Question: Like many others, you have a great deal to say about inner peace. Please explain to me why Jesus said at one time, "My Peace I give unto thee," and at another time, "I am not come to bring peace but a sword." What am I to expect, peace or a sword?

Answer: Consider a great lump of ignorance pierced and sundered by the Light of Wisdom. The lump, split in twin, falls away on either side. It should be apparent that those who insist on the validity of the lump will find the light coming as an awful sword, as the great divider bringing warfare and division. To those intent on a study of the old way as if Truth were somewhere hidden within its enigmas, the falling away appears to be the end of the world, nation divided against nation, two against three in the household, father against son, a destructive turmoil that sunders the customary limits. "I am not come to bring peace, but a sword" But to those interested in living as the Light-the Light, not the lump-the falling away is seen as naught but a falling away and there is great rejoicing at the passing of illusion. "my Peace give I unto thee…" This peace looks on the personal affairs of the day with out fear or frustration, knowing what they are and why. This is the Peace that is beyond understanding. Our heritage -our veritable Identity-from the beginning.
