William Samuel & Friends
The Child Within Quarterly Journal Notes Summer 2007
The following is a personal letter from William Samuel. This was written sometime in the 1970's. I think you will find it very enlightening and helpful. Please enjoy it and soak in the Light of it, as if it was written to you, as well.
My Dear Friend, Hello!
I have some wonderful things to tell you in this letter. I know they are wonderful because I have seen their good work done instantaneously, time and again as I talk to those who want to be more of who and what they are.
I am not accustomed to illusions persisting or even seeming to persist. There is no power on earth able to make Truth untrue. You and I shall just not put up with the roar of blood pressure. Neither blood, nor pressure, nor roars have any thing to do with the I that I Am! There is nothing you must come to understand before you will be free of your problem. Infinite Intelligence, perfect wisdom, absolute harmony and love are one-total-and all, nothing else exists in all the universe except this One, which is God.
Surely God knows all God needs to know to be God! So please just relax in the fact that God is All-ALL-and that all is always well and good.
Don't try so hard to understand, dear Camille, because you just don't have to. Rest easy and assured in the confidence you have placed in "me" for "I" have never failed! I Can't! Does this sound presumptuous? The Truth Itself is who and what "I" am--even as the Christ declares, I Am the Truth! This is the same truth Camille is! There is no sight nor sound capable of making Truth untrue. Isn't this so? Why, someone can shout "Two and two are 5" at the top of his voice for fifty years and carve the symbols of his misbelief on Mount Rushmore but it will never, never make the Principle of arithmetic change.
"You" and "I" are the PRINCIPLE-the perfect, Holy, unblemished, unfettered and FREE PRINCIPLE ITSELF, and we are not one of its manifestations or reflections or bodies! You are not "man"--you are not even "Spiritual man". There is no "man" at all-there is just God Being conscious of Himself. You are this Consciousness. You and I are AWARENESS ITSELF--and this awareness includes the "images" and "idea" called "man"--because we have to call them something if we are to address them and be concerned about them--but that which "sees" people and "things" is God's Awareness.
Awareness is what we are. You include a body called Camille within Awareness just as you include countless other "bodies", but your Identity is Awareness and not that single body called Camille.
Look at your hand and then look at a chair. The hand and the chair are both "within" Awareness. But neither of them is your Identity. Your Identity is Awareness ITSELF which is BEHOLDING, SEEING, BEING the hand the chair and Bill's letter.
Yes, I am sure a face to face conversation would be a joy to us both. Yet you would not be seeing nor talking to someone ELSE would you? Awareness simply beholds, and Awareness is the "who YOU ARE".
Consider every sight, sound, idea and thought--and all else that comes to you as your own consciousness of being--as you would a picture on the television screen.
Look at the tree, the flower, and the little boy with the freckles and dirty knees; Behold them (and everything else) as on the screen AWARENESS "YOU" ARE!
The tree, the flower and the little boy are not "material." They are not unreal, nor illusion! But neither are they "important" nor do they have any "value", any more than the shadows and images on the television screen, have "importance" and "value."
WHAT IS the importance and value, you ask? The Awareness is the importance and value. Awareness. This Awareness, Consciousness of Being, which God Is Being. The Awareness that includes all images, is the HOLY (whole) activity of the Divine Mind, called God.
You see, "people" and "things" are called "material" when they are believed separate and apart from the one who "sees" them. "Things" are "material" to "me" if I consider myself one "thing" and the "tree," the "flower and the "little boy" something else. (I remember how long I struggled with "there is no matter" before this was understood and cleared up forever.)
To say there is no matter is simply to say that nothing is external to Awareness.
We can readily understand that the cowboy on the television screen is not separate nor apart from the screen--and we can see that the cowboy has no value nor importance of his own at all--rather, the screen and images on it are all one screen. So it is, we as Awareness can "look-see-behold" everything from a grain of sand to the galaxies and view them all on the "screen" of this Awareness I Am!
The Awareness one is, is like the screen of the television.
The screen and all the pictures on it are all being what they are because the television set is being all there is to the screen and images. The screen has nothing to do, it has no responsibility for the images, and screen (Awareness) has nothing to do but let the television set go on being the television set. Doesn't this illustration help you see who and what you are as Awareness?
You can stop identifying yourself as one of the images on the screen (even one of the "perfect images"---they all perfect because the perfect set is being them) and commence right now simply being the Awareness You Are.
Camille, you just stop that silly feeling guilty business. You must not, for an instant, cherish the notion that you have caused a problem, that you are suffering a claim because you haven't done something right, because you don't understand something. Such a notion is to believe the"images" to be powerful and important.
The Awareness (the Consciousness of existing) which is reading these very printed words right here on this piece of paper is being perfectly aware seeing words, right here right now. Isn't this so? Awareness itself is simply being aware. It is making no judgments as to what is good or bad, sick or well, in bondage or free. Awareness is just being aware--without judgment.
If someone says "I hear a roar which is about to drive me crazy," who is it who makes such a judgment? Does Awareness itself make such a determination? No! It is the one who believes that Awareness belongs to her that makes that kind of statement. Awareness doesn't belong to anyone! Awareness is just being aware, period.
It is the "judge" who claims to possess and make a servant of Awareness who has all the trouble.
Well--that isn't the one you are. That one is a liar, an impossible impostor, a phantom a nothing from the very beginning. Loose her and let her go!
Just be unjudging Awareness. Behold, Enjoy, Be--and let the old judger go her merry way. She isn't the Awareness you are. That which you are, your true Identity, is not responsible for any seeming discord. Don't blame yourself--your Self. Your Self is being just what God is Being, as your Self.
To blame yourself is like the television screen blaming itself for all the pictures that are on it.
Actually, you see, the culprit is always the belief that there is another one besides God who can make a judgment. The one who would say "This is a claim to be rid of" is the one to be rid of--not the claim.
Until that one is seen for its nothingness, there will only be more and more good or bad in his experience in his life. Being a container of Awareness, then that container must look on and judge Awareness.
Let's you and I just go about the happy business of being what we are--unjudging awareness, unjudging and joyous consciousness of being.
When I have occasion to "teach" I cover this very point vigorously until it has been comprehended and the transcendent light is seen, by everyone. Oh, such freedom it gives. How wonderful to just BE conscious of the joy and happiness which God is, without the obligation to judge all that is seen, and think, plan, or calculate about the sight and sound and experiences.
I tell you this, dear Camille: There is the most magnificent peace and perfection and Holy happiness spread over the whole face of the land. It is right here and now. While mankind seems unaware of it, it is, nonetheless, their very Consciousness of being and their own Identity.
It is only possible for us to tell those about it, who want to know, those who ask us.
In this perfection there is nothing to heal nor change; yet, in the acknowledgment of the present Perfection, our love for it and our honesty AS IT, all that is called "inharmonious" vanishes like a puff of smoke. We do not have to wait for this perfection to come about--we don't even have to affirm it nor deny it. There is no way to do but to be--there is no time but now; there is no place but here.
To be, here and now.
Dear friend, you don't have to do a danged thing. Why? Because God is Being YOU! This is a fact! This is! Because God is being "you," then "you" certainly don't have to do anything to help Deity be "you," do you?
Isn't it rather presumptuous to think you have to help God? Isn't it making "you" a big piece of cheese to think you can do some of God's business for Him?
Yes, God is Being your identity and there is nothing in the world you can do to escape that fact.
Therefore, you just might as well sit back and enjoy it. You may as well let God be all there is to "you" because He is anyway!
You don't have to struggle to understand. You don't have to stop doing this or that. You don't have to "don't" anything. You just have BE--to be what you are.
Your Identity is happiness, holiness, joy and completeness. Your Identity is Tranquility and Peace of Mind. Why? Because God is being your Identity. God is absolutely pure and perfect, therefore "you" are!
